What is A-Cam?
A-Cam is a collective of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) camera technicians and artists within IATSE Local 600, the International Cinematographers Guild. We represent DPs, camera operators, 1st and 2nd ACs, loaders, and DITs working across film and television.
Our mission is to build a strong, intergenerational community that uplifts, supports, and empowers AANHPI union and non-union members across all classifications. By creating space for shared experiences, professional growth, and cultural understanding, we aim to foster belonging and empower current and future filmmakers.
Our Mission
As our industry reckons with issues of representation and equity, this is a pivotal moment to ensure AANHPI voices are heard, histories are valued, and futures are supported. A-Cam exists to meet that moment — with community, craft, and solidarity.
What We Stand For
- Community Building Cultivate a welcoming and safe environment for AANHPI union members to connect, collaborate, and celebrate identity.
- Generational Knowledge Sharing Create pathways for mentorship and skill transfer between veteran union members and newer generations, ensuring the continuity of craft, wisdom, and resilience.
- Professional Development Offer workshops, panels, and resources that support career advancement while addressing the unique challenges faced by AANHPI members in the industry.
- Representation & Advocacy Advocate for greater AANHPI visibility and equity within union leadership, hiring practices, and production environments.
- Cultural Engagement Honor the cultural traditions, histories, and contributions of AANHPI communities through events, storytelling, and collaborations.
